"But I own that I cannot see as plainly as others do, and I should wish to do, evidence of design and beneficence on all sides of us. There seems to me too much misery in the world. I cannot persuade myself that a beneficent and omnipotent God would have designedly created that a cat should play with mice." -- Charles Darwin, Letter to Asa Gray

Bill Moyers Thinks on His Feet, Steps on the Feet of a Punk
USF's own Juliana Walters sent me this link. What we have is a punk O'Reilly producer trying to ambush Bill Moyers. Moyers doesn 't fade. He steps in, puts his hand on the punk and dominates the moment.
Cool.
And I don't mean an easy manner or casualness that suggests indifference or unconcern. I mean imperturbable.
Keith Olberman showed this on MSNBC too. Interesting banter.
ReplyDeleteWith Olberman and (I suppose) Chris Matthews can we "place" MSNBC in the political economy discussion? A flashback to Nic. Garnham's interview on POP's blog.
That, my friend, is an interesting discussion. In the case of Olberman, I don't think he is calculated Bush basher. I mean, I don't think he manufactured his indignation to be a contrarian, to move against the fawning tide -- hmmm; there's a pathetic fallacy -- as a career move? I haven't traced his career so I can't say. Did MSNBC "allow" him or facilitate him in a cold mercantile spirit, thinking he had an audience and that perhaps it might grow as the attitude toward Bush and the war changed? That's the 'political economy' question, is it not? Say more, tmorahan.
