Several people have called my attention to this little gadget/widget created by the New York Times that allows the rhetorically curious to search all of Bush's SOTU speeches for the appearance of individual words, with the number of times used noted year by year.
One plays the game until one gets an amusing result. Such as the use of the word "defeat," which appears once or twice in his first five speeches, six times last year, this year not at all.
Last year the spirit of prophecy was upon him.
