Squeezing the Twinkle

Just showing off a phrase that came to me in an exchange of emails with Brother Goodwin about the temptation to overwrite, to tart up stale content with just so much goddamn cleverness, all twee and arch and fey and rogueish and knowing and contempo so on.

So what I wrote was that I needed to start "squeezing the twinkle" out of what I write, an effort that will apparently begin tomorrow.
